Special importance is being given to Cows, in our Hindu culture. Day is started with chanting of Shloka - Kapilaam, Darpanam bhaanum...., and among Holy Substances( Mangala Dravia), prime importance given to Cows and its products. Cows are being adored with much sacred devotion, in our Hindu religious culture. Offering Gograsa everyday to Cows ,before taking our food ,was an immemorial custom of our ancestors in our Hindu Religion. This type of Gosevaa has been divinly prompted by Lord Krishna ,who ,through his love for Cows, has set a precedent for our Gosevaa.

Till few centuries back, the welath of persons were being measured in terms of the livestock of Cows and were being honored accordingly. Each and every household and also each village had an independent Goshaalaa. Moreover, maintenance of Cows were undertaken , not only as a part of our religious feelings ,but also with a commercial insight. People have also conceived commercial utilities. The same also holds viable in present days scenario. Even mother can feed her children with her breast milk just for few years, but , cow milk is very much necessary and indispensable for our livelihood for ever.

With passage of time, maintenance of Cows by household has been almost disappeared and the old cowsheds have been gradually converted into godowns.

In the modern household, having an independent cowshed can never be dreamt of. Of course, certain exemptions can be observed only in few places. However, each and everyone would like to have Cow milk and its products, but not keen on maintenance of Cows and its nurturing.

In this crucial period,Swamijis of Ashtha Mathas founded by Sri Madhwacharya for worshipping Lord Gopalakrishna, have also committed themselves to perform Gosevaa, with the holy feeling ,that it is also a part of their Pooja. It is really commendable that Swamijis are struggling hard for this noble cause of nurturing of Cows and doing Gosevaa, which otherwise, normal Gruhasthaas are supposed to do.

With this perception, previous pontiff of Sri Sode Vadiraja Matha, Sri Vishothama Thirtha Swamiji, founded a noble project of Go- Samrakshana centre at Hoovinakere, Holy birthplace of Sri Vadiraja Gurusaarvabhoumaru ,with the whole intention of taking care of the Cows. Later, present pontiff of Matha, Sri Vishwavallabha Thirtha Swamiji, direct disciple of Sri Vishothama Thirtha Swamiji, has taken special interest in further development of the centre and as such around 450 Cows are being taken care by Matha, at present.

Even in normal days also, such nurturing of large number of Cows is really a financially challenging job. Added to this, the present pandemic of Corona has further worsened the financial situation. Moreover, this herculean task is also not profitable, since most of the Cows are not in milching stage and are being taken care to avoid cow slaughter. Anyhow, the project is being pursued with strong conviction of Swamiji, for welfare of Cows. However, we the devotees, should extend our whole hearted support to Swamiji, since the onus of this noble job of Go- Samrakshana, basically lies on general public at large. We can take part in this holy project by donating generously and supplement the efforts of Swamiji.

In view of the present pandemic situation , visiting the Go-Samrakshana centre, may not be feasible, volunteer donors can actively involve themselves in the project by offering their donations in the mode mentioned herebelow .

In fact the exact end of the present pandemic is still uncertain and hence , till such time , whole hearted, donations are highly solicited. It is Golden Opportunity to extend offerings to Lord Gopalakrishna through Swamiji and for being blessed by Lord Krishna and Sri Vadiraja Swamiji.

ಗೋ ಸೇವೆಯ ಮೂಲಕ ಶ್ರೀಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಅನುಗ್ರಹಕ್ಕೆ ಇದೊಂದು ಸುವರ್ಣಾವಕಾಶ.

ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೂ ಸಂಸ್ಕೃತಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಿಗೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಮಹತ್ವವನ್ನು ನೀಡಲಾಗಿದೆ. "ಕಪಿಲಾಂ ದರ್ಪಣಂ ಭಾನುಮ್.... " ಎಂದು ಪ್ರತಿದಿನ ಪ್ರಾತಃ ಕಾಲ ನೋಡಬೇಕಾದ ಮಂಗಲ ದ್ರವ್ಯಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಿಗೇ ಮೊದಲ ಸ್ಥಾನ. ಹಿಂದೂ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕ ಭಾವನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋವಿಗೆ ಬಹಳಷ್ಟು ಪೂಜ್ಯ ಸ್ಥಾನ ಇದೆ. ಪ್ರತಿನಿತ್ಯ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಆಹಾರ ಸ್ವೀಕರಿಸುವ ಮೊದಲು ಗೋಗ್ರಾಸ ಸಮರ್ಪಣೆ ಪ್ರಾಚೀನರ ನಿತ್ಯವಿಧಿಯೇ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಇದಕ್ಕೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮುಕುಟವಿಟ್ಟಂತೆ ನಮ್ಮ ದೇವರಾದ ಕೃಷ್ಣನು ಗೋಪಾಲಕನಾಗಿ ಗೋಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ಲೋಕಶಿಕ್ಷಣವನ್ನು ಕೊಟ್ಟಿದ್ದ. ಕಳೆದ ಒಂದೆರಡು ಶತಮಾನಗಳವರೆಗೆ ಜನರ ಶ್ರೀಮಂತಿಕೆಯನ್ನು ಅಳೆಯಲು ಅವನಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಗೋಸಂಪತ್ತು ಕೂಡಾ ಪ್ರಮುಖ ಮಾಪಕವೇ ಆಗಿತ್ತು. ಪ್ರತಿ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಗೋಶಾಲೆ, ಊರಿಗೊಂದು ಗೋಶಾಲೆ ಆ ಕಾಲಕ್ಕೆ ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯವಾಗಿತ್ತು.

ಕೇವಲ ಧಾರ್ಮಿಕವಾಗಿ ಮಾತ್ರವಲ್ಲದೆ ಗೋವಿನಿಂದ ವ್ಯಾವಹಾರಿಕವಾಗಿಯೂ ಹಲವಾರು ಅನುಕೂಲಗಳು ಇರುವುದು ಇಂದಿಗೂ ನಿತ್ಯ ಸತ್ಯವೇ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಹೆತ್ತ ತಾಯಿಯಾದರೂ ಒಂದೆರಡು ವರ್ಷ ತನ್ನ ಮಗುವಿಗೆ ಹಾಲು ಕೊಟ್ಟಾಳು. ಆದರೆ ಗೋಮಾತೆಯ ಹಾಲು ನಮ್ಮ ಜೀವನ ಪರ್ಯಂತ ಅಗತ್ಯ ಹಾಗೂ ಅನಿವಾರ್ಯ. ಮನೆ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲೂ ಆಗುತ್ತಿದ್ದ ಗೋವಿನ ಸಾಕಣೆ ಕಾಲದ ಹೊಡೆತಕ್ಕೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿ ಇಂದು ನಶಿಸಿ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿದೆ. ಹಳೆಯ ಮನೆಯ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಗಳು ಗೋಡೌನ್ ಆಗಿ ಪರಿವರ್ತನೆ ಆದರೆ ಹೊಸಮನೆಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಕಲ್ಪಿಸಿಕೊಳ್ಳಲೂ ಅಸಾಧ್ಯ. ಇದಕ್ಕೆ ಬೆರಳೆಣಿಕೆಯಷ್ಟು ಅಪವಾದಗಳು ಇರಬಹುದು. ಆದರೂ ಇಂದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ಗೋವಿನ ಹಾಲು ಹಾಗೂ ಇತರ ಗೋಜನ್ಯ ಉತ್ಪನ್ನಗಳು ಬೇಕು ಆದರೆ ಗೋವಿನ ಸಾಕಾಣಿಕೆ ಅದರ ಆರೈಕೆ ಯಾರಿಗೂ ಬೇಡವಾಗಿದೆ.

ಇಂತಹ ಸಂದಿಗ್ಧ ಕಾಲಘಟ್ಟದಲ್ಲಿ ಶ್ರೀಮಧ್ವಾಚಾರ್ಯರಿಂದ ಸ್ಥಾಪಿತವಾದ ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಪೂಜೆಯ ಅಷ್ಟಮಠದ ಯತಿಗಳು ಗೋಪಾಲಕೃಷ್ಣನ ಪೂಜೆಯಷ್ಟೇ ಪ್ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಗೋಸೇವೆಯನ್ನೂ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಗೋಶಾಲೆ, ಗೋಸಾಕಣೆ ಮುಂತಾದ ಗೃಹಸ್ಥರ ಕರ್ತವ್ಯವನ್ನು ಯತಿಗಳು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವುದು ನಿಜಕ್ಕೂ ಅಭಿವಂದನೀಯ. ಈ ನಿಟ್ಟಿನಲ್ಲಿ ಉಡುಪಿಯ ಸೋದೆ ಶ್ರೀ ವಾದಿರಾಜ ಮಠದ ಪರಮಪೂಜ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶ್ವೋತ್ತಮ ತೀರ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀಪಾದರು, ವಾದಿರಾಜ ಗುರುಸಾರ್ವಭೌಮರ ಅವತಾರಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವಾದ ಹೂವಿನಕೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಒಂದು ಗೋಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿ ಗೋವುಗಳ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಣೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡುವ ಕಾರ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಮುನ್ನುಡಿ ಬರೆದಿದ್ದರು. ಅವರ ಕರಕಮಲ ಸಂಜಾತರಾದ ಪ್ರಸ್ತುತ ಪೀಠಾಧಿಪತಿಗಳಾದ ಪರಮಪೂಜ್ಯ ಶ್ರೀ ಶ್ರೀ ವಿಶ್ವವಲ್ಲಭತೀರ್ಥ ಶ್ರೀಪಾದರು ತಮ್ಮ ವಿಶೇಷ ಆಸ್ಥೆಯಿಂದ ಗುರುಗಳು ಸ್ಥಾಪಿಸಿದ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಯನ್ನು ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಸುಸಜ್ಜಿತವಾಗಿ ನಿರ್ಮಿಸಿ ಸುಮಾರು 450 ಕ್ಕೂ ಅಧಿಕ ಗೋವುಗಳಿಗೆ ಆಶ್ರಯ ಒದಗಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ.

ಸಾಮಾನ್ಯ ದಿನಗಳಲ್ಲೇ ಇಷ್ಟೊಂದು ಗೋವುಗಳ ಪಾಲನೆ ಪೋಷಣೆ ಆರ್ಥಿಕವಾಗಿ ದುಸ್ತರವಾದುದು. ಈಗ ಬಂದಿರುವ ಕೊರೋನಾದ ಪ್ರಭಾವದಿಂದ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಯ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆ ಇನ್ನಷ್ಟು ಕಷ್ಟದಾಯಕವಾಗಿದೆ. ಇಲ್ಲಿನ ದನಗಳು ಯಾವುದೇ ರೀತಿಯಿಂದ ಲಾಭದಾಯಕವಲ್ಲದಿದ್ದರೂ ಗುರುಗಳ ಇಚ್ಛಾ ಶಕ್ತಿಯಿಂದ ಸಾಗುತಲಿದೆ. ನಾವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಮಾಡಬೇಕಾಗಿದ್ದ ಗೋವಿನ ನಿರ್ವಹಣೆಯನ್ನು ಗುರುಗಳು ಮಾಡುತ್ತಾರಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂದು ನಾವೆಲ್ಲಾ ಸುಮ್ಮನಿರುವುದು ತರವಲ್ಲ. ಗುರುಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ನಡೆಸಲ್ಪಡುವ ಗೋಶಾಲೆಗೆ ಕಿಂಚಿತ್ ಸೇವೆಯನ್ನು ಮಾಡಿ ನಾವೂ ಕೂಡಾ ಪುಣ್ಯಭಾಜನರಾಗಬಹುದು.
